Chantal Mitvalsky is a vocalist, composer, singing teacher and speech-language pathologist from Melbourne, Australia. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music Performance in vocal jazz from The Victorian College of the Arts and has performed regularly in various ensembles within Australia, Europe, Asia and The United States.
In 2012 Chantal was a finalist in the National Jazz Awards at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival and received a scholarship to attend the 'International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music' at The Banff Centre, Canada. She has performed at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Melbourne Music Week and The Wangaratta Jazz Festival, in Australia, The Taichung Jazz Festival in Taiwan and the Takatsuki Jazz Festival in Japan. Chantal also released her first solo recording of her own compositions under the project name ‘Skycha’ in 2016 and spent several weeks in Australian and Japan touring and promoting the record.
Chantal is a passionate vocal and piano teacher with over 10 years of experience as an educator in individual and group classes. She also has 6 years experience working as a speech-language pathologist working with clients of all ages with communication and voice difficulties. Chantal’s teaching philosophy focuses on the promotion of healthy vocal technique, the development of aural and reading skills while encouraging creativity and individuality in music. She aims to assist students to deliver great performances and to foster a lifelong passion for music.
