Luke Smith is an actor, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and educator based out of New York City. Since arriving to the city three years ago, Luke has put all these skillsets to use in varying degrees, from performing as Smee in the 1st National Broadway tour of Peter and the Starcatcher, to entertaining and educating toddlers and their parents through song and guitar, to teaching privately here at Tone. He is a songwriter for the musical group Awning, who has released two EPs and a full-length album in the past two years. He pursued a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at New York University for two years, and received his B.F.A. in Acting from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
Luke approaches his lessons with a sense of joy, with the primary goal of using music fundamentals to ignite a student’s curiosity and creativity. His lessons emphasize process over product, as well as getting to know his students’ personalities so that he can fine tune exercises that fit their method of learning.
