After recently winning the Menken Remixed competition (New York City Center), having work selected for this years’ NYMF Festival and receiving a commission from YMT:UK for their summer 2016 Programme, Jude has begun to establish a formidable reputation as a theatre-maker in New York and London. Other recent work of note has included two scores for the Southwark Playhouse (London’s leading Off-West End venue); workshops and presentations of three musical works – both in London and New York; a chamber opera for the Tête-à-Tête Opera Festival; a ballet for the JCC Manhattan. His work as an orchestrator has taken him to Abbey Road, as well as providing a new orchestration/score adaptation for Marguerite (Off-West End - collaborating with Alain Boublil), arrangements for Robbie Williams’ Swings Both Ways (International tour), for Only Men Aloud at Christmas (Wales Millenum Center and UK Tour), and for Tony Award-winners Cynthia Erivo and Frances Ruffelle (whom he also serves as musical director), as well as Matt Lucas and Olivier Award-winner Paul Baker. He was the founder and Conductor of the Royal College of Music's first ever Musical Theatre Orchestra in 2011. He regularly accompanies and conducts, with recent venues including The Kennedy Center, 54Below and the St. James Theatre, London.
Alongside his work as a composer, Jude has found so much joy in helping children find their passion in music and the arts. Having held positions at prestigious stage schools in London, including the Sylvia Young Theatre School and Guildford School of Acting, working with children and young professionals in the West End (including Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Billy Elliot, The Lion King, Les Miserables) Jude has also worked in UK academies and US Charter Schools, working as a musical director, teacher and animateur. He is presently on the factulty at the Tone Academy of Music, NYC.
He holds a BMus (composition) and a PGDip (composition for screen) from London’s Royal College of Music, where he was the Ian Lombe Scholar, studying with Mark-Anthony Turnage, Michael Zev Gordon and Joe Horovitz. He also studied at the Manhattan School of Music with Richard Danielpour, and, this past summer, earned a MFA in Musical Theater Writing at NYU. As the Dean’s Full Scholar at NYU, Jude has also been supported by the Cameron Mackintosh Foundation, the Mark Rubinstein Scholarship, the Adam Kenwright Scholarship, the Mel Silverman Award, the Horace Goldsmith Foundation, and the Wayne Sleep Foundation for Music.
