MICHAEL JONES

Violin, Viola

Michael Lloyd Jones, originally from Guthrie, Oklahoma, has been a student and teacher of music for nearly two decades. He began his musical journey at the age 12 when he first picked up viola in his middle school orchestra class. From there, he went on to receive both his Bachelors and Masters of Music in Viola Performance from Southern Methodist University before furthering his studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Robert Vernon. Throughout his musical career, Michael enjoyed many performance opportunities including playing with the Dallas Symphony, the Boston Symphony at the Tanglewood Music Center, and the Cleveland Orchestra. He then went on to establish his own teaching studio in 2018. Michael has loved the opportunity to teach both private and group lessons and to watch his students succeed in competitions and in the pursuit of higher music education. Michael excels at tailoring his approach to each individual student and their respective goals. In his spare time, he enjoys exploring the city for the latest eats, or playing with his cats, Lilith and Onyx. As a recent New York City transplant, Michael looks forward to building a musical network in the city.
